Overview of Scenarios – this is where you’ll build your budgets and forecasts
Within FUTRLI’s Scenario Builder you can view, create and edit forecasts for an Organisation which you have access to. This is an overview of its interface

Within FUTRLI’s Scenario Builder you can view, create and edit forecasts that have been created for an Organisation, which you have access to. In this guide you’ll find an overview of the Scenario Builder’s interface.
Information regards your currently selected Scenario can be found throughout the Scenario Builder. Within the top left of your Scenario you’ll find the Scenario Name, Scenario length and the bounds of your Scenario displayed. In the top right, your Scenario’s view options, including the Start Date that data will display from and the Reporting Period (weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually).
The name of your currently selected Scenario can be found in the top left of the Scenario Builder.
The name of your Scenario will display on any Card in which it has been selected and within the Scenarios dropdown on the back of a Card when both the Organisation it corresponds to is selected, and when Forecast or Forecast + Actual has been selected as your data option:
Changing the Scenario Name
You can change the name of your Scenario at anytime. To do so, select the currently displayed name by clicking it. This will allow you to edit it as you wish. Simply enter your desired amendments before clicking the black tick to save your changes:
The length and bounds of your Scenario can be seen displayed in the top left of your selected Scenario.

The length and bounds of a Scenario can be changed using FUTRLI Advanced Copy option.
Report Start Date
In the top right of your Scenario you’ll find your Report Start Date.
This is the date which dictates when information displays from. When October 2015 is selected, we’ll find that Scenario data displays within our report from October 2015 onwards:
Changing the Report Start Date
You can change your Report Start Date at anytime. To do so, click the Report Start Date displayed in the top right:
A new window will display containing all selectable Report Start Dates. The currently selected Start Date will be highlighted in pink. You can select a new Report Start Date by clicking it. In our example we’re going to change the Start Date from September to July:
Your Scenario will now display data from your new Report Start Date.
Your Scenario data will display in accordance with your selected Reporting Period. This can be seen displayed in the top right of your Scenario:
Changing the Reporting Period
You can change the selected Reporting Period using the dropdown that appears when the current Reporting Period is selected. Data can be viewed Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Quarterly:
The order in which Account Categories and Formulas display within the Workings tab of your Scenario will be dictated by your selected Layout. You can view your layout by clicking Edit Layout on the Scenario control panel. All items will display in order based upon where they have been placed in the Layout:
Editing the Layout
To edit your Scenario layout, click the Edit Layout button:
You can reorder where items appear within your layout by dragging and dropping them into a new location:
To save changes click Confirm.
Adding/Removing Items from the Layout
Removing an Item
To remove an Item from the layout click the x that appears adjacent to the line within the Edit Layout window. In this example we’ll be removing Net Assets:
Clicking the x will remove the item from the layout.
Adding an Account
You can add an Account Category to your layout by searching in the search box:
And then selecting the item you wish to include:
Adding a Formula
You can add formulas to your layout using the New Formula button. Formulas cannot be edited within your Forecast but are simply provided as a means of sense-checking your data and as an additional reporting option. To add a Formula click the New Formula button:
You can add a Saved formula from your Formula library:
Or create a new one from scratch by clicking Formula Builder:
Hiding/Showing items with zero values
Within the Workings Tab of your Scenario you can choose to hide or show Accounts, Formulas, Groups or Forecast items which contain all zero values for your selected reporting period. To do so, click the Hide/show rows button in the top left of your Scenario:
Check or uncheck items you wish to hide with zero values:
Interacting with Data
Drilling into Transactional Movements
You can drill into each Account line to see the detail of your forecasted transactional movements within a period. To do so, click the period value for an Account line. In the example below we’ve clicked the period value for Double Rooms for December 2016. This reveals the transactional movements which we’ve forecasted for December for our Double Rooms line. Any Credits or Debits will be listed here chronologically by data:
Using the Scenario Graph
At the top of your Scenario you’ll find the Scenario Graph. This offers a visual representation of your Actual and Forecast data in accordance with your selected view options:
Toggling the display of items on the graph
You can toggle items to display on your graph by selecting them from the Chart legend:
For example, you can selected Net Income to appear on our Chart by selecting it from the Chart Legend:
To remove a selected item, simply click where it appears on the Chart Legend. This will hide it from the graph:
Searching for items
Using the Search bar in the top right of your Forecast you can search for Account Categories, Lines, Groups, Formulas and Forecasts within your Scenario.
Using the Search Bar
Navigate to the the Search Bar in the top right:
For example, you can search for Rent. To do so, simply enter ‘Rent’ into the Search Bar:
To navigate to our Drink Sales – Bar forecast we simply need to click it from our Search results. We will then be redirected to where it appears in our Chart of Accounts.
